Hello,
If your cough is for less then 3 weeks and you have no fever and have already used antibiotics you might need to just wait, the cough might take long to subside even after the infection is treated. To help with it you can take some cough syrup with carbocysteine and keep yourself hydrated. If a cough is dry then
codeine can be used as well (speak with your doctor on its use.)
If you have a cough for a long time and especially if it is getting worse you might need at least a chest X-ray and sometimes some tests to check the lung function (
spirometry.)
Prolonged cough can hurt the throat mucosa and cause a
sore throat as well and chest might be painful.
If the examinations are normal (chest X-ray and spirometry) then you might try
Omeprazole and see if it improves it.
Acid reflux from the stomach is a common cause of prolonged cough and sore throat so Omeprazole should help in these cases.
Cetirizine can be used as sometimes allergies can be a cause of the prolonged cough as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
